Course Management Tip! When should I go for it?
This picture shows a tucked pin or (sucker pin). Trying to land your ball at this pin from 100 yards or farther back is basic stupidity.
Professionals who are trying to score better will hit 3 to 5 yards to the right of this pin to keep the water out of play. If you are a bogie golfer and hitting into this green from 150 yards. Your target should be the center to right center of the green. Right where that gap in the trees is at the back of the green. That way you can hit your ball over land all the way. If you are a single digit hdcp, your target will be middle of the green or slightly left center.
This is an interesting hole. From 175 yds, it’s very wide left and right but front and back are the penalties for most. As a higher hdcp if your direction is not reliable, no matter where the flag is on this green you should aim for the center and hope to hit it solid. Take a 3 or 4 and run!!! If you are a single hdcp and the flag is on either side of the green or center. Go for it but always favor the center of the green. If you are a single hdcp the bunker shouldn’t scare you. You have made a bad shot if your ball ends up left or right of this green in the rough. You’ve pushed it or pulled it. Make good choices and the score will take care of itself! Gary Kent “Thanks for the lessons Gary, You are a great teacher especially since you take an interest in all your students giving each one special and personal treatment. I got my money’s worth. I have given your name to many people. I hope for their benefit they attend your school. I am trying to put what I learn into practice. However many times I have reverted to my bad habits. I know that when I have a slower takeaway and swing slower I have a great game. I have to make a conscious effort to do this but when I start getting comfortable I revert. I plan to take the break 90 course perhaps in late July. Anyway lots said. Thanks for your time. See you soon.” Leonard
