Training Camp For Golf

 In Golf Swing

…winter in Canada is “Training Camp” time for golfers.

Pro sports do their training camps in the off season of that sport, and not during the season when they must perform at the highest level.

So shouldn’t you do it this way?

So what to do!

-If you’re not happy with your ball striking and need to make SWING changes, this is the time! (You’ll have time to ingrain the new movements over the winter and be ready to just play golf come spring).

-Maintain or improve FLEXIBILITY for better club head speed and club face control. (Each year many golfers lose a little more range of motion due partly to being inactive during our long winter season). We need to hit balls regularly. Shoveling snow and playing hockey will not maintain the flexibilities required for good golf.

-Continuous improvement of the fundamentals to hit the ball SOLID and STRAIGHT. (If you want to beat your friends repeatedly, you have to know where your ball is going and how far it’s going to go). “HIT IT SOLID”

-Maintain or improve CLUB HEAD SPEED. (Increasing club head speed is easy for most golfers as long as important swing basics are not lost).

“I love the winter lessons. Gary keeps me in shape and with a few tweeks to the swing, I’m good to go, when the courses open in the spring ” Kenny Liu
