Golf Swing Tip! Full Extension through the Ball for POWER!

 In Golf Swing

The Golf Swing Tip today is about the full extension of the arms just after contact of the ball. Many recreational players bend their arms during this point of the golf swing. This happens for many reasons: 1) fear of hitting the ground before the ball, 2) trying to elevate the ball into the air with a driver with too low of a loft and not enough speed, or 3) trying to compensate for a slice. (pull) etc…

To enhance your chances of maximum club head speed for distance and better direction, we want to be sure to have full extension of the arms just after impact of the golf ball. (as the picture is showing.) It’s the only point in the golf swing where both arms could be straight at the same time. Your arms should feel soft and relaxed so they would extend, just by the forces of the club head pulling them straight. It is much like the feeling of swinging a bucket of water back and forth from side to side, or tossing a golf club into a tree! You know what I mean?

An important factor we must not overlook here is that you need to be on your left side (right hand players) at this point of the golf swing or the extension won’t work with irons. You will hit the ground before the ball way too much. Also, for the people that workout a lot, the extension position should have triceps engaged not biceps. To improve this position do more pushups and less bicep curls.
