GOLF SWING TIP! Downhill Golf Shot

 In Golf Swing

A Downhill Golf Shot can be extremely punishing for some players. Tendency for many people is to hit the ground before the ball and not get the golf ball into the air, or to the putting green. Here’s some ideas on how to play the shot: Angle your body perpendicular to the slope as I am doing here in the picture. Make sure most, or all your body weight(depending on how severe the slope is) is on the foot farthest down the hill. Play the golf ball in the middle of your feet or favor towards the back foot.

Have the feeling your right shoulder is slightly higher than a normal setup position, and lastly. Choke down the club about 1″ to help insure solid contact. When you start your back swing and continue to the top, absolutely no body weight is allowed to transfer to the right foot. THIS IS DISASTER!!! Be aggressive moving to the left and down the hill though. This shot may go slightly right for the right handers. So aim a little to the left of your final target. This golf ball will also come out low and not wanting to stop any time soon, especially out of the rough. If you’re at 7 iron normal flat fairway distance you better play a 9 iron or PW to achieve the same distance. When you conquer this shot, normal flat lies are a breeze! Gary Kent “Thanks for the lessons Gary, You are a great teacher especially since you take an interest in all your students giving each one special and personal treatment. I got my money’s worth. I have given your name to many people. I hope for their benefit they attend your school. I am trying to put what I learn into practice. However many times I have reverted to my bad habits. I know that when I have a slower takeaway and swing slower I have a great game. I have to make a conscious effort to do this but when I start getting comfortable I revert. I plan to take the break 90 course perhaps in late July. Anyway lots said. Thanks for your time. See you soon.” Leonard
